Tiger Woods is down but not out and is targeting more majors on his return to golf.

The 14-time major champion is targeting a return to action in December and in an interview with CBS News Woods, revealed he no longer believes he will get to Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 Major Championships, instead he is hoping to exceed it.

Reaching Nicklaus’ record has been seen by many as the goal that Tiger has been chasing his whole career and it seems that the 40-year-old isn’t ready to give up on his dream just year.

Here’s how the interview with Charlie Rose on Rose’s PBS program unfolded:

Rose: Do you believe you’ll get 18 majors?

Woods: To be honest with you, no.

Rose: You don’t?

Woods: No.

Rose: You’ve accepted that?

Woods: I’ve accepted I’m going to get more.

The first step on Woods’ road to a record major haul is getting back to competitive action and during the interview he gave a timeline for his return to golf after withdrawing from the Safeway Open.

Rose: When do you think you’ll come back?

Woods: I’m hoping to come back in December.

Rose: You believe you can do that? You’ll be ready? Something will happen between withdrawing from Safeway and competing there?

Woods: More hard work.

Rose: You like being Tiger Woods?

Woods: I like beating those guys. That’s why I practice all those hours … is to be ready to take on those guys down the stretch. And do I miss it? Absolutely, 100 percent. And to be at my age now, at 40 years old … I’m the first one to admit: I can’t do the things I used to be able to do. Most people can’t at my age, versus when they were younger. I have to find different ways to go about it.
