One of the world’s best trickshot specialists is going to be on the PGA Tour next season

Whenever we see a trickshot genius in action, we always wonder why they aren’t competing on tour rather than entertaining people on a corporate golf day. If you can hit a 350-yard high draw off the deck with a driver, what’s stopping you winning PGA or European Tour events? Admittedly, being able to hit a flop shot with an umbrella while riding a unicycle probably isn’t going to come in particularly handy going down the stretch at The Open, but we still think seeing a golfer with more creativity than Gary Barlow’s accountant playing on tour would be a fantastic spectacle…

We’re pretty excited, then, that next season, trickshot magician Wesley Bryan will finally put that theory to the test. 

If you’ve never heard of the Bryan Bros – otherwise known as George and Wesley Bryan – we’ll let this video introduce them:

The pair have established themselves as world-leading trickshot specialists, racking up hundreds of thousands of YouTube views and working with stars including Rory McIlroy and Gary Player along the way.

When they’re not creating wacky trickshots, the Bryan Bros are playing normal golf, and doing a pretty good job of it. 

They both represented the University of South Carolina during their college days, and at the end of 2015, 25-year-old Wesley qualified for the Web.com Tour, the feeder tour to the PGA Tour. He finished tied-seventh in the season’s opening event, and last week won the catchily titled Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by NACHER, in only his third start on the tour.

Bryan’s victory pretty much guarantees a spot on the PGA Tour for next season. He’s ranked 402nd in the world at the moment, but he’s aiming high.

Bryan thinks he’s trickshot background will stand him in good stead when he goes head-to-head with the PGA Tour’s biggest names next year. 

“It definitely helps with creativity,” he told Golf Digest. “I’ll have a tee shot and I’ll think if I threw the ball up and hit it, I’d have no problem hitting the fairway. If you can’t hit a fairway when the ball is just sitting there on a tee, you might as well go home.”
