Stars raise thousands with Justin Rose and Niall Horan

Justin Rose and Niall Horan teamed up to host the most starstudded golf event of 2016.
Rose told TG: “We wanted to do something meaningful and put on a golf day that really separated itself from other standard golf days around, putting on a quality event we could be proud of.”
Sure enough, the inaugural Horan & Rose charity event at The Grove near Watford had it all. It was a star-studded occasion with the likes of James Nesbitt, Denise Van Outen, John Terry, Kevin Pietersen, former Westlife star Brian McFadden, TV presenters Gabby Logan and Kirsty Gallacher, plus former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley.
All attended a Gala Dinner which included a set by pop sensation Olly Murs, and an auction with some once-in-a-lifetime lots such as caddieing for Justin for a day. All this helped to raise half-a-million pounds for Cancer Research, with Niall’s T-shirt campaign adding another £300,000 to the kitty.
TG also played its part with about £15,000 being raised from five bidders, including Brian McFadden, who paid to have their photographs in Britain’s best-selling golf magazine! It was a night to remember and some paid the price in the following morning’s golf event, won by Olly Murs’ team.
Rose, nursing a niggling back injury which sidelined him from the golf, added “It was everything we hoped for and people were saying it was really special, really cool, and really different.
“A lot of time, thought and energy went into the event and the gala dinner was the proof in the pudding. Our aim was to raise a lot of money for such a great cause and hope people go away having had a good
time and want to do it again.”
