Shane Lowry’s miracle wedge shot has been voted 2015 European Tour Shot of the Year.
Lowry’s shot, played at a crucial moment during the WGC Bridgestone Invitational, received nearly 25% of the votes.
“It’s a huge honour to win European Tour Shot of the Year,” says Lowry. “It’s a shot I will never forget. Thanks to everyone who voted. I’m looking forward to another great season in 2016. I can’t wait to get back to competitive golf next week in Malaysia when I represent Europe in the EurAsia Cup.’
Lowry’s miracle wedge shot helped secure the Irishman his first win since 2012.
“It was actually a pretty horrific lie,” says Lowry. “It was sitting down in a hole. It was almost like someone had stood on it, but it was where the crowd was walking. And I just said to Dermot, I’ll try and hit sand wedge and just get it down to the front of the green. I pulled it a bit too low and went into the tree. The rest is history.”
