Jimmy Walker’s PGA Championship winning bag

Jimmy Walker became the fourth first-time major winner this season after enjoying success at US PGA Championship on Sunday.

The American has also sealed his place in the US Ryder Cup team after a fine weekend at Baltusrol Golf Club, keeping his composure despite challenging weather conditions.

When the players went out for their final round plenty were predicting a Jason Day / Jimmy Walker showdown but Walker sealed his first major on the 17th with a birdie putt from 8 feet, giving himself a three shot cushion on the last.

Speaking after the tournament Walker said: “I felt confident. I felt confident in myself. I felt confident in what I was doing and in my golf swing, my putting, my chipping.

“I kind of tried to wrap myself around that; that everything was feeling good, and to go with that and trust what I was doing.

“Trust all the stuff that I have been working on, and that’s what I tried to apply out there.

“I made a lot of good short putts, 4-, 5- and 6-footers to keep the round going, which is what you’ve got to do. You’ve got to do that to win any tournament.”
