Getting ready to deliver the knockout blows at The Open

They were going at it hammer and tongues with no quarter asked or given, The 3rd round of The Open resembled a fiercely-contested boxing match, a bunch of hungry gladiators landing landing one blow after another.
It was great to watch and the afternoon leaderboard didn’t know whether it was coming or going…
It was real topsy turvy, helter skelter stuff and, to be frank, you couldn’t take your eyes off it.
While overnight leader Dustin Johnson was struggling to get himself going and build on his lead, many of his rivals not only ghosted past him but left him trailing in their wake.
They include the vastly experienced Padraig Harrington and Retief Goosen, both -10 and with a handful of majors between them, sensational Irish amateur Paul Dunne (-11, well into his back nine) and of course that man Jordan Spieth who, it seems, can do no wrong.
The multi-talented Texan is still firmly on course for the Grand Slam after winning both the Masters and US Open earlier this year and you would be a plonker to bet against him after his awesome 3rd round (66, -11). Spieth is still the one to beat.
But this Open has been full of surprises and picking a winner is akin to winning the Lottery. The only real surprise is that the way they’ve been knocking six bells out of the course today, it’s a wonder that the Old Course record of 63 hasn’t been shattered.
