The Ryder Cup standings will determine 12 of the 24 players who will do battle over the infamous Black course at Bethpage State Park in September.

So who’s in the running? We’ll get there, but first let’s find out how they get there…

How to qualify for the 2025 Ryder Cup

All eligible American players will be able to earn Ryder Cup points through the 2024 and 2025 PGA Tour season. These are broken down as follows:

  • 2024: 1 point per $1,000 earned for all players making the cut at The Players and the four majors
  • 2025 regular PGA Tour events: 1 point per $1,000 earned for all players making the cut at events from January 1 through to the conclusion of the BMW Championship
  • 2025 majors: 1.5 points per $1,000 earned for all players making the cut

No points will be awarded for opposite-field events.

All eligible European players can earn Ryder Cup points across five different bands in the 2025 DP World Tour season. These are:

  • Band 5: Major championships – 5,000 points
  • Band 4: PGA Tour Signature Events/The Players/FedEx Cup Playoff events – 3,000 points
  • Band 3: DP World Tour Rolex Series events and regular PGA Tour FedEx Cup events – 2,000 points
  • Band 2: DP World Tour Back 9 events – 1,500 points
  • Band 1: DP World Tour Global Series events and PGA Tour opposite-field events – 1,000 points

The qualifying period for each team ends in August.

For Team USA, the top six eligible players following the BMW Championship will make the team.

For Team Europe, the top six ranked players following the Betfred British Masters will qualify automatically for Luke Donald’s side.

Each captain will then have six wildcard picks.
