2024 British Open: Tee Times and groups for Saturday’s third round at Royal Troon

Tee times and pairings for the third round of the 152nd British Open Championship at Royal Troon.

Daniel Brown was the leader after round one of the British Open, passing Shane Lowry’s 5-under score to finish up -6 for the opening round of his major debut. Friday saw Lowry card a 2-under 69, and he sits in solo lead heading into moving day. Brown ended up 1-over for his second round at Royal Troon, but that was enough to leave him just one-back from leader Lowry heading into day three.

The 152nd British Open field was cut at +6, meaning anyone with a score of +7 or higher would be missing out on the weekend’s play.

Genesis Scottish Open champion Robert McIntrye was 4-over for the day, but snuck under the cut line at 5-under. Max Homa made an incredible birdie on the final hole to finish 6-over, just enough to earn him a tee-time on Saturday morning. Only two players are currently sat at even par, Matthew Jordan and Joaquin Niemann, and 2011 Open Champion Darren Clarke just squeezed in under the cut at 6-over.

Some big names had trouble on the opening round, with McIlroy carding a double bogey on the iconic postage stamp 8th hole, and current US Open Champion Bryson DeChambeau finishing up 5-under after an eagle on the 16th. The struggle followed during Friday’s round, with McIlroy, DeChambeau, Woods, Hovland and Åberg all missing the cut and heading home.

Moving day will see play get underway a little later than the first two days of the tournament, with Darren Fichardt and amateur Tommy Morrison heading out at 8.55am.

Leaders Daniel Brown and Shane Lowry will be the last off at 3.45pm.
