Why is Tiger Woods not playing in the Masters?

Tiger Woods isn’t pegging up at Augusta this year. But why? Let us get you up to speed…
When the Masters is mentioned, Tiger Woods is undoubtedly one of the first names that come to mind. He’s a player who’s forever linked to Augusta National.
Woods has five Green Jackets. He’s made 25 starts at Augusta since 1995. He’s been responsible for some of the greatest shots in Masters history, still holds the title of the youngest winner, and has the biggest margin of victory to date.
But why is Woods not at Augusta National this week for the 89th Masters Tournament?
Back in March, Woods announced that he had ruptured his Achilles, and had undergone surgery to repair the tear. He’s no stranger to needing recovery time, having faced numerous serious injuries throughout his career, including a torn ACL and stress fractures in 2008, and multiple back surgeries between 2010 and 2017.
Despite his setbacks, including a period doubts surrounding retirement, Woods made a remarkable comeback in 2019 by winning his 15th major at the Masters. However, in 2021, a car accident left him with severe leg injuries.

We’d love nothing more than to see Woods return to the form that made him one of the greatest to ever play the game. His 2019 Masters win was an unforgettable comeback, and watching him compete at that level again would be a dream for many of us.
Looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer before we can hope to see Woods back at his best.
