On sale for just nine days per year, The Masters gnome is the most coveted item among patrons visiting Augusta. Let the rush for the 2025 Santa lookalike begin.

The 2025 Masters marks the tenth year of the revered Masters gnome. How it came about remains something of a mystery, but in the space of a decade, it’s gone from a quirky addition to the vast merchandise offering to the most wanted item in the enormous shop. The 18-inch-tall statue sees patrons power walk (without running, as that’s banned here) from the entry gates to grab a spot in the queue, their hopes dashed if they haven’t bagged one within the first hour as the day’s supply is so limited.

Each year the gnome’s outfit is changed to encourage returning patrons to add to their collection, but Augusta won’t reveal exactly how many are made or sold, or even where they’re made. The limited-edition figures go on sale on the Saturday of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, and if you haven’t snared yourself one by the time the gates close on the Sunday of The Masters, your chance of getting one for the $49.50 marked price is gone. You could always head over to eBay, where this year’s model is already listed with starting prices of $400 and more, with older models hitting the five-figure mark as sellers prey on collectors trying to complete the set.

The 2025 Masters Gnome has been revealed and looks set to be the must-have item from Augusta's merchandise shop.

The 2025 edition is clad in a shirt featuring some of the most famous Masters concessions food items while carrying a backpack and holding a sandwich. saddle golf shoes and a hat complete his look.

If you’re in the market for something smaller or just want the full collections, there is also a nine-inch gnome, dressed in a Masters caddie bib, for $29.50.

And as Augusta looks to take advantage of the character’s popularity, there’s another new addition to the collection for 2025. Last year saw the arrival of a Christmas decoration and t-shirts adorned with the figure. This year, we’ve got twins in the form of salt and pepper shakers.

Priced at $38 for the pair, the shakers arrived on Monday morning having not been sold across the ANWA and Drive, Chip & Putt events. The two mini gnomes wear green caps and are dressed in Masters caddie bibs, one adorned with an S and the other a P.

I’ll have to add those to my shopping list for 2025, having bagged both gnomes in 2024. And despite my airline’s best attempts to rob me of them when my luggage was on the journey home, they eventually made it back to the UK and take pride of place in my office. Back at Augusta to cover this year’s Masters, let the challenge of grabbing the latest versions begin!
