The Masters 2024: Settled conditions return as the action heats up at Augusta National

Players and patrons can look forward to pleasant conditions across the weekend as we edge closer to seeing who will win the Green Jacket.

After high winds and heavy rain on Thursday led to a 2.5-hour delay to proceedings, officials will be glad to see the weather gods looking down favorably on eastern Georgia for the remainder of the 88th Masters from Augusta National.

Strong westerly winds continued into Friday, however, conditions will be far more pleasant as the tournament progresses with no anticipation of brollies going up, winds settling, and temperatures rising to 30°C for Sunday’s finale.

In total, the tournament has now seen 27 editions delayed due to inclement weather. Last year’s second round was suspended after three trees were uprooted near the par-3 16th, and in 2019 the rare decision was made to move up Sunday tee times to 07.30, playing nicely into the hands of Tiger for his fifth Masters victory, dodging heavy downpours that ordinarily would have featured during his back nine charge.
