Tiger Woods breaks the record for the most consecutive cuts made at the Masters

Tiger Woods has extended his streak of consecutive cuts made at the Masters to 24 – a new Masters record and his 37th

Heading into the 2024 Masters there were three players tied with 23 consecutive cuts made at the Masters – Gary Player, Fred Couples, and Tiger Woods. After posting a one-over-par 73 in the opening round and an even-par 72 in the second round at Augusta National, Tiger Woods is guaranteed to make it into the weekend.

The current projected cut line is five-over-par. The 15-time Major Champion is sitting comfortably at one-over-par after his first two rounds at the 2024 Masters. Tiger has extended his number of consecutive cuts at the Masters to 24, setting a new record, leaving Gary Player and Fred Couples on 23 in a tie for second.

Heading into the tournament there was some speculation as to whether Woods would have the strength and stamina to play his way into the weekend – he’s definitely answered that question. After withdrawing from his only other start this season at The Genesis it perhaps did seem unlikely that Tiger Woods would be able to tackle Augusta National given his difficulties and discomfort clearly exhibited just two months ago.

However, like all sporting greats, Tiger has been able to overcome his struggles and play his way into contention at the Masters once again – he couldn’t win it, could he?

When asked about breaking the record after his second round Tiger had this to say, “It means I have a chance going into the weekend. I’m here. I have a chance to win the golf tournament.

“I don’t know if they’re all going to finish today, but I’m done. I got my two rounds in. Just need some food and some caffeine, and I’ll be good to go.
