Revealed! The BMW i7 and 7 Series are the best luxury car for golfers

We’re delighted to announce the BMW 7 Series saloon and its all-electric i7 counterpart as the joint winners for the second year in a row.

Choosing the best luxury car for a golfer is a surprisingly popular question we’re posed. That’s why Today’s Golfer has once again partnered with the car experts at Parkers to bring you the award for the Best Luxury Car in its prestigious New Car Awards 2025.

No new luxury car or SUV has toppled the BMW 7 Series – and the all-electric i7 – for two years now, with numerous reports from happy owners and users backing up our early impressions. Impressively, they’re not just better than the equivalent Audi, Mercedes-Benz or Range Rover, they run far more expensive offerings from Bentley and Rolls Royce shockingly close.

The BMW twins finished ahead of the Range Rover Sport, a fabulous car to drive with all the luxury of a full-fat Rangie, and the graceful Rolls-Royce Ghost, which is truly sumptuous and has far more personalisation options than you’re ever going to need if you really want to flaunt your wealth.

Who's in the field for the 2024 BMW PGA Championship?

Keith Adams, Parkers.co.uk Editor, said: ‘Both flavours of 7 Series feel genuinely special inside and far less gaudy than a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. It’s also better screwed together and is even available with a giant screen in the rear to make a mobile cinema. Don’t think of the 7 Series and i7 electric car as a mere luxury conveyance, it’s more like a private jet for the road.’

The winners have been tested rigorously by the Parkers.co.uk team, which judged the best luxury cars on a combination of comfort, design, quality, sheer ability to make you feel good and fitness for purpose.

“In this year’s New Car Awards, more than half of the winners – as well as our overall Car of The Year – are electric, which shows a huge shift in the competence and usability of these cars. But we also acknowledge that EVs still won’t work for enough people until we have more street charging, so the awards are peppered by lots of highly commended petrol and hybrid alternatives,” Keith adds.

Now in its eighth year, the Parkers New Car Awards 2025 reflects the constantly-evolving views of Britain’s car-buying public, with winners decided by a combination of the site’s expert reviewers’ verdicts in thousands of miles of road testing and the purchasing habits of the website’s 2.3 million users actively involved in the buying process.
