We already knew some of golf’s biggest names were being lined up to appear in Happy Gilmore 2. Now they’ve been revealed…
Happy Gilmore 2 is coming and, if you’re as much of a fan as we are at TG Towers, you’re already counting down the days to its release. (Yes, we know a date hasn’t been confirmed yet…)
Adam Sandler will once again play the eponymous star as we follow Happy Gilmore’s return to the big leagues. As for other faces coming back for the sequel, we know Christopher McDonald will resume his role as arch-rival Shooter McGavin, while Julie Bowen is Gilmore’s love interest Virginia Venit and Ben Stiller is the mean-spirited nursing home worker Hal.
But what about those dropping in to steal a scene or two?
The first movie, which was released back in 1996, featured cameos from Lee Trevino and Mark Lye, as well as legendary analyst Verne Lundquist and gameshow host Bob Barker.
But Sandler is taking it to the next level for Happy Gilmore 2.
We first hinted in September that Rory McIlroy would be swapping Holywood for Hollywood after TG’s Rob Jerram overhead the four-time major champion’s manager discussing his filming schedule.
Now Netflix have confirmed that a “GOAT golf team” of McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris will play a part in the highly-anticipated sequel.
They also posted a short teaser clip on social media…
The video also reveals that Keegan Bradley, Rickie Fowler and Collin Morikawa will be involved.
John Daly has also claimed that he’s in the film, while NFL star Travis Kelce – who you may know as Taylor Swift’s boyfriend – has a small part.
Not only that, it has also been confirmed that the Full Swing cameras were on set – so we can look forward to behind-the-scenes footage of the players getting their own little taste of the actor life, too.
The third series of the docu-series will air on Netflix from February 25.
