LIV Golf players will not be allowed to wear shorts for the 2025 season

It was one of the best bits about LIV Golf. Now it’s no more…

Why can’t tour players wear shorts?

It is, somewhat ironically, one of the hottest topics each year.

Tiger Woods doesn’t know why it’s not allowed and has campaigned for it in the past.

“We play in some of the hottest places on the planet,” the 15-time major champion said a few years back. “It would be nice to wear shorts – even with my little chicken legs.”

So when LIV Golf was thrust into our lives and onto our screens in 2022, one of the more notable dress code rules they set in place was, well, there are no rules.

Finally, a tour that gets that golfers are athletes and athletes wear shorts.

And sure, we had some fun with it…

…but on the most part it was a thorough success.

Now, though, that is set to change.

Starting with this week’s season-opener in Riyadh, LIV Golf players will be required to wear trousers.

The news, which has since been confirmed by a LIV Golf source to TG, was announced by Pat Perez on the league’s podcast, Fairway to Heaven.

“The players are wearing pants all year,” Perez, who played on Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces team before turning his attention to a life behind the microphone, said. “I got it confirmed the other day that the players are wearing pants.”

LIV has yet to make an official announcement on the matter.

Maybe it was part of Phil Mickelson’s joggers deal with Primo
