Happy Gilmore 2 release date revealed!

We’ve been desperate to know the Happy Gilmore 2 release date – and now we have it…

You can start getting excited now. Happy Gilmore 2 has a release date.

We already know who’s going to be in the much-anticipated sequel to the best golf film ever made. (Don’t @ me, Caddyshack fans.) One PGA Tour star cameo was even revealed by us, which was fun. And now we’ve seen the first full-length trailer.

But in terms of when the film would be on our screens, the initial talk was it would be on our screens around the Masters.

However, when filming wrapped before Christmas, Adam Sandler – the man who wrote the movie and stars as its eponymous hero – told The Dan Patrick Show: “I don’t know 100 percent, but I think around July. Not July 4th, but we’re trying to get it done in time for July. You never know what’s going to happen.”

And it looks like the Sandman is going to get his wish, after Deadline‘s Matt Grober seemingly revealed the Happy Gilmore 2 release date in a short article about actor Conor Sherry signing to a new talent agency.

Grober wrote: “Sherry stars alongside Adam Sandler, Margaret Qualley and Ben Stiller in the sequel to the 1996 golf comedy classic, which premieres July 25.”

There was no reason not to believe Grober – he is, after all, a senior journalist at one of the world’s most popular Hollywood websites – but that news was later confirmed by the PGA Tour, and then by Netflix and Sandler himself.

If you think about it, July 25 is perfect. That’s the Friday after the 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush concludes, which means it will arrive on our Netflix watchlists in those days where we’re moping about the men’s major season being over and already counting down the days to our next trip down Magnolia Lane.

In the meantime, you’ve got Full Swing and Stick, Apple TV’s new golf-based sitcom starring Owen Wilson, to keep you going.

If none of those tickle your fancy, we’ll see you on July 25, on the 9th green at 9. Oh, and dress nice, eh?
