DP World Tour announce 24/7 free streaming channel

What does the DP World Tour channel mean for its broadcasting deal with Sky Sports?
A dedicated DP World Tour channel? You read that correctly.
Operated by the European Tour Group and C15 Studio, the new channel will be a 24 hours a day, seven days a week free ad-supported streaming TV – or ‘FAST’ – service that will be available in the UK, US, and Canada.
The DP World Tour channel, C15 Studio say, “will deliver year-round coverage from the DP World Tour and its season-long Race to Dubai”. This will include live coverage from up to 20 tournaments, plus feature group coverage at all Rolex Series events, day four repeats, and highlight shows from the early 2000s to the present day.
So where does this leave Sky Sports, who currently broadcast live coverage of each DP World Tour event?
TG reached out to the European Tour Group, who said that partnership will not be affected, describing the DP World Tour channel as “additive” content that augments existing broadcast deals.
“Innovation is in our DNA and we are always looking at new ways to showcase golf’s global Tour to our fans,” Richard Bunn, the European Tour Group’s chief revenue and content officer, said in a statement. “Viewership of sports content on FAST platforms has grown significantly over the past 12 months and now feels like the right time to augment our agreements with established broadcast networks in the UK and North America with a new FAST option that can give fans extra convenience and choice.”
Joe Nilsson, the CEO & co-founder of C15 Studio, added: “Our partnership with the European Tour Group to create the DP World Tour channel embodies all the attributes we seek in a new network: a passionate audience of sports fans, globally recognized athletes and brands, exceptional programming and live coverage, as well as strong relationships with premium sponsors and advertisers.
“We are excited to collaborate with the Tour to broadcast their world-class tournaments to viewers across North America and the United Kingdom.”
C15 Studio‘s portfolio of FAST services include the F1 Channel, One Championship TV, Squash TV, and Triton Poker.
