Legendary caddie Steve Williams opens up for explosive new Tiger Woods book
Last updated:
‘Together We Roared’ will be released in April to coincide with the Masters
One of the most ludicrous stats in this bonkers game of ours is that Steve Williams can boast being his country’s highest-paid sportsman after 12 years working on Tiger Woods’ bag.
The New Zealander caddied for Woods in 13 of his 15 major wins, as well as more than 80 victories around the world, to firmly cement his place not only the Caddie Hall of Fame but in golf’s illustrious history.
And, as you can imagine, he has some stories.
Enter Evin Priest. The celebrated Australian journalist, who has covered golf for many years at the Associated Press and Golf Digest, “sat down with Steve Williams for six months of interviews so we could co-author a definitive account of his 12 years caddying for Tiger Woods”.
He added: “For the book, Steve opened up like never before: about 1999, the Tiger Slam, the slump, the return in the mid-2000s and more.
“He also opened his home, where a glorious, heartfelt shrine to their partnership lives. There are final-hole flags from 13 major wins together (Tiger hand-wrote meaningful messages on most), Tiger’s golf bags, and a rare Ford Tiger gifted Steve after a win.”
Priest also spoke with the likes of Mark O’Meara, Chris DiMarco, Adam Scott, other caddies and more for what he describes as a “love letter of friendship from a legendary caddie to arguably the greatest golfer ever”.
“We hope you’ll enjoy reliving some of the greatest moments in golf history,” he concludes.
We can’t wait to get our hands on this.
