There’s a new sitcom about golf coming this summer (yes, really!)
Last updated:
Here’s what we know so far about golf’s latest venture into the world of fiction…
What a year it is for our beautiful sport on the silver screen. The third series of Full Swing is coming soon, as is Happy Gilmore 2, and now we have a brand new golf sitcom on the way.
Created by Jason Keller and starring Hollywood megastar Owen Wilson in the lead role, Stick follows the life of former pro golfer Pryce Cahill as he attempts to get over losing his marriage and his job by taking on a talented by troubled 17-year-old prodigy, Santi, who is played by Peter Dager.
The ensemble cast also features Marc Maron, Judy Greer, Lilli Kay, Timothy Olyphant and Mariana Trevino (no relation).
And, as this is golf, of course there are star cameos, so you can expect to see the likes of PGA Tour stars Collin Morikawa, Keegan Bradley, Max Homa, Wyndham Clark, as well as broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman, and social media personalities such as Good Good Golf’s Matt Scharff, Brad Dalke and Garret Clark.
Stick, which will premiere on Apple TV+ in June, is described as “a heartfelt, feel-good comedy about a found family and their relationships set within the world of golf as it has never been shown before”.
TG‘s initial thoughts?
Well, Apple TV+ rarely misses, and its exclusive content is arguably the best of all the streaming services. Don’t believe us? Watch Shrinking, or Severance, or Slow Horses, or The Morning Show, or Bad Monkey, or Hijack, or Ted Lasso…
You get the point.
The last of those is actually the most important. On paper, the story of a failed American football coach who has never even seen a game of soccer somehow landing himself at one of the biggest (fictional) clubs in England is about as ludicrous a premise as it can possibly get. And yet it works, once you temporarily suspend your belief in reality for a few hours.

For that reason, and Apple’s track record, we’re allowing ourselves to get excited about a golf sitcom.
With this, and Full Swing, and Happy Gilmore, when will we have time to watch any actual golf?
The 10-episode first season of Stick will premiere on Apple TV+ with three episodes on June 4, 2025, followed by a new episode every Wednesday until July 23.
