How to improve your golf at home during Coronavirus lockdown

The best ways to practise and play golf at home

Many of us are stuck at home due to the Coronavirus, but that doesn’t have to mean you can’t get a golf fix at home.

In fact, there are ways to practise golf at home which could mean your game is in better shape than ever by the time golf courses reopen.

We’ve created a list of the best home golf content and activities we’ve seen so far, and will continue to update and add to it as we find more.

Padraig Harrington golf coaching

If you can’t get together with your regular golf coach due to Coronavirus, why not take lessons from three-time major champion Padraig Harrington? Harrington is posting a new video on Twitter nearly every day and the quality of content he is producing is fantastic, with some tips that will really improve your golf.

Free tips from Luke Donald

Harrington isn’t the only tour pro dishing out top-quality golf advice from home. Former world number one Luke Donald is sharing some excellent golf tips on Twitter and Instagram:

David Leadbetter free academy for junior golfers

Renowned golf instructor David Leadbetter is offering free coach training to ‘stay at home’ parents during the Coronavirus.

“It’s not fair to assume parents know how to teach golf at home to their children,” says Gavin Grenville-Wood, Head of Junior Education, Leadbetter Golf Academy. “The Leadbetter Kids Parent-Coach course will educate parents to understand the principals of teaching golf to children at home in a fun and engaging way.”

The course offers insight on coaching children and how to properly engage your kids with some fun games that you can do indoors or in the backyard. Over the years, the Leadbetter Academy has had huge success with junior golf programs and they believe the lessons in this course could really benefit parents, not only during the Coronavirus pandemic, but any time of year.

Play online golf games with your friends

If you’re missing the chance to play golf with your regular playing partners, why not arrange a game online?

WGT Golf: World Golf Tour lets you play photo-realistic versions of many of the world’s top courses, completely for free, and you can challenge your friends online. The game is simple to learn but tricky to master. One word of warning: whilst it’s free to play, you’ll struggle to be competitive without investing in some upgraded equipment, which you’ll have to pay for.
