January: See it, play it, do it
Last updated:
Don’t let the winter blues get you down. There’s plenty of cheap deals doing the rounds on golf breaks, green fees and tickets to the biggest tournaments in the UK this summer. You just need to know where to find them. We’ve done some digging, made some calls and listed a bunch of golfing getaways for you and your mates or partner to enjoy in 2019…
SEE IT: British Masters
We’ve still got a while to go yet, but tickets are now on sale to watch the British Masters, hosted by Tommy Fleetwood, at Hillside in Southport. Early-bird tickets for the European Tour event, which takes place on the second week in May, start from £90 for a week’s pass; £45 for the weekend; and £18 for one round. Under 12s go free, discounts apply for over 60s and 12-21 year olds. In the meantime, you can go and try out the links course for yourself at a discounted rate of £70 (Mon-Sat) in January and February, and that includes a coffee/tea and bacon bap on arrival.
PLAY IT: The tour-school course
Fancy testing yourself on the course that made and ended dreams in November? Lumine Mediterranea Beach & Golf Community (pictured below) has released a couple of cracking winter deals, so you can sample some sun and play all 45 holes on site. The seven-day package starts from £675 per person and includes a B&B stay at a four-star hotel, unlimited range balls and five green fees. A four-night break is also available from £395 per person, but is limited to three unlimited green fees. Valid until May 15, 2019; prices based on sharing a double room. Click here for more details.
DO IT: Book a stay & play break in the Maldives
If you’ve still got some Christmas cash left in the kitty, dig out the suntan lotion and book a break for two to the Maldives. Sky Sports commentator and ex pro John E.Morgan is taking up a two-week residency at Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and you and one guest can join him between February 15-28, 2019. Starting from $4,600 per room, for a minimum of five nights, you can enjoy a one-to-one lesson with Morgan, two group workshops and a round of golf for two, followed by afternoon tea. You’ll also get a chance to beat the pro, relax with a massage and then enjoy a dining experience for two on Mount Villingili, the highest summit in the Maldives. Terms and conditions apply; quote PKGSTPL20 to receive a 20% discount on bookings.
