Tiger Woods announces 2017 schedule, including Dubai Desert Classic

Tiger Woods has confirmed his first event of 2017 will be the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego, which starts on Thursday January 26th.

It is an event he has won seven times, most recently in 2013, with the organisers announcing that the 14-time-major-champion has committed to playing.

Woods has also confirmed he will compete in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic where he will be making his eighth appearance when the longest-running European Tour event in the region takes place at Emirates Golf Club starting on Thursday February 2nd.

“I’ve always enjoyed playing in Dubai and it’s fantastic to see how the city has grown phenomenally from when I first started playing there,” said Woods.

“It was great winning in Dubai in 2006 and 2008. When you win in Dubai, you know you’ve beaten an outstanding field. The support from the fans is also just wonderful.”

Woods will join World Number Two Rory McIlroy, The Open Champion Henrik Stenson and Masters Champion Danny Willett in the line-up and has fond memories of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, having won it twice.

The 79 time PGA Tour winner will also compete in is the Genesis Open at Pacific Palisades, on Thursday February 16th.

He willalso be competing at the 2017 Honda Classic held at PGA National Resort & Spa, which will take place on Thursday February 23rd in preparation for the The Masters in April.
