Disappointment seems to be in store for most golfers this Christmas, according to a survey conducted by Europe’s largest golf retailer,
American Golf. The majority of golfers questioned admitted that loved ones very rarely get it right and that unwanted presents are doomed to a life under the stairs.

Cheap and novelty golf balls top the list of worst presents ever, but right up there are clubs and gloves for the wrong hand. Toilet putting games, automatic putt returners and ball monogrammers also rank highly as unwelcome gifts. As do those infamous Christmas socks…
The majority of these Christmas presents, particularly the novelty headcovers, balls and socks, never even make it out of the packet – let alone on to the golf course. Golfers’ gift sets and books of golfing anecdotes are also likely to remain in the cupboard until the next big clear out.
