Most golf clubs want more members and visitors. They bring in money that lets the club invest in the course, keeping it in top condition and attracting even more people to visit or join. But not all of them are doing enough to help themselves. 

Branston Golf and Country Club in Burton upon Trent is doing its bit to get more people playing golf, by offering a completely free weekend membership during the next bank holiday weekend.

“Although Branston’s golf academy and splendid Eagle Course is always open to the public, we are joining up with the Sky Sports-sponsored ‘Get Into Golf’ initiative by opening wide the club’s doors on the bank holiday weekend,” says director of golf Richard Odell. “This is so everyone has the opportunity of giving golf a go.”

Odell hopes that new and lapsed golfers will be among those tempted to visit, helping boost participation in the biggest year golf has ever seen. 

“Danny Willett’s dramatic win in the recent Masters, the first Englishman to win the coveted trophy in 20 years, and with golf now in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August – for the first time in over 100 years we are seeing more people giving golf a go,” he says.

To benefit from the three-day weekend of free golf, you simply need to book a free tour of the facilities between 23-27 May by calling the club on 01283 528320. You will then qualify for completely free access to the club during the bank holiday weekend, 28-30 May. 

The free weekend includes use of the club’s nine-hole Eagle Course and its 18-hole championship course, use of the academy range, and the opportunity to receive free coaching from the club’s team of professionals.
