Jordan Spieth started the 2015 season as an up-and-coming pro, one of a number of guys who had one victory on tour and lots of promise. Then this happened…

● He won the Masters, becoming the second-youngest player to win at Augusta and just the fifth man ever to lead from start to finish.

● He won the US Open, becoming the youngest player to win two Majors in 93 years.

● He finished 4th at The Open and T2nd at the US PGA, breaking Tiger’s record for the lowest cumulative score in all four Majors in a single season at 54 under par.

● He became the youngest player to win five times in a season since Horton Smith in 1929.

● He won the Vardon Trophy for lowest scoring average (68.94) and was the best putter on Tour; he led in putting average, one-putt percentage (44.26%) and putts per round. He finished fourth in scrambling, fourth in shots gained tee to green, and was third in the all-around category.

● He banked $22,030,465, (including his $10m FedEx Cup bonus), which equates to $13,908 per hole, or $3,623 per shot.

● Oh, and he became the No.1 player in the world and PGA Tour Player of the Year. Pretty good, then.

This year, as we all saw, one poor swing on the 12th hole stopped him defending his Masters title at Augusta. But the humility he showed in defeat – and the resolve to learn from that heartbreaking loss – proved he’s the biggest star in the game today.

He’s a breath of fresh air, exuding class on and off the course, and when he called me at home one evening for this world exclusive interview, he politely asked: “Is it convenient to talk now, Kevin?” “Of course it is, Jordan” – and for the next 30 minutes, he revealed some of the secrets of his incredible success, reproduced here in his own words…
