Why there’s never been a better time to be a golfer

Has there ever been a better time to be a golfer? The game is buzzing right now. With the new ‘Big Four’ doing battle on tour, golf’s imminent return to the Olympics and a Ryder Cup on the horizon, there’s lots to get excited about. Whether you’re a golfer like me who’s constantly battling to improve his (now 11) handicap, or someone who’s only just picked up a club for the first time, it’s a fantastic time to be a golfer.

Not that you’d know it if you listened to the naysayers. Golf is too expensive… It’s too hard… Too inaccessible… Takes too long…

Rubbish! Golf is what you make of it, and in the new issue of Today’s Golfer – out 18th February – we’ve got 60 ways you can make even MORE of it in 2016.

Think golf’s too expensive? Thousands of tee times are available for less than £20 – where else can you get four hours of entertainment for that? You can even play top quality former tour venues for less than £50.

Too hard? If you get the basics right (through an army of brilliant PGA pros) there’s never been so much fantastic equipment designed to help you, from soft balls that stop on a dime to ultra-forgiving drivers that help you hit it longer and straighter than ever.

The game is too inaccessible? Courses are crying out for your business. Forward-thinking pros all offer ‘get into golf’ programmes, and May’s National Golf Month – of which we are proud partners – will again aim to introduce thousands of people to the game.

And if you think a round takes too long, play speed golf, or a round with two clubs, or just nine holes…

There’s a lot to celebrate in golf. It gets you out, keeps you fit and takes you to some stunning places. And occasionally – just occasionally – you’ll hit a shot just like Rory, Jordan, Jason or Rickie. Does it get any better than that?

Another reason it’s great to be a golfer… The new issue of TG is out on Thursday 18th February!
