The game’s powerhouse brands reinvest millions of dollars in R&D each year in the hope of eking out marginal gains in a market becoming increasingly competitive as golf technology embraces an AI-assisted future. Last year saw six different driver manufacturers represented in the PGA Tour’s opening seven events of the season, with the TaylorMade Qi10 topping the “Drivers Constructors’ Championship” on eight wins thanks largely to the irrepressible Scottie Scheffler.

Hideki Matsuyama uses a Srixon ZX5 Mk II LS (9.5°) with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 TX shaft.
En route to his PGA Tour record-breaking 35-under par total, Matsuyama gained a total of 2.03 shots over the field Off-the-Tee, ranking 16th for the tournament. He averaged 285.1 yards in distance, hitting 45 from 60 fairways for the week (75.0%).
