New Titleist Mini Driver – GT280 – Officially Launched

By , Golf Equipment Writer. Sometimes good, always sensational.

The Titleist GT280 has officially been unveiled by the company and, after the successful tour-seeding for the mini driver, it’s now available to the golfing public

The golfing world had initially seen a TSR mini appear on tour, back in March 2024, but this remained a Tour-only product while undergoing further development. Fast forward a year, and the company is ready to unleash their new Titleist GT280 mini driver into the market.

With a growing list of players, both professional and amateur, looking at options between the driver and fairway wood, it didn’t seem like it would be long before something from the world of mini-drivers would be coming to the incredibly successful Titleist GT woods family, including the winner of our 2025 driver test.

The Titleist GT280 uses the same PMP crown as the GT drivers and woods do.

Big Tech, Small Details

The design process for GT280 began with a request from J.J. Van Wezenbeeck (Titleist’s Senior Director of Club Promotions), and when we brought out our first mini driver prototype last year, we quickly saw that it fit a performance need for both tour players and amateurs.” said Tom Bennett, Principal Product Manager for Titleist Metalwood R&D.

The Titleist GT280 is built around the same core design technology as the mainline GT woods, with a focus on adapting the new proprietary materials for use in the smaller head without compromising the purpose.

GT280 will still be led by the PMP technology that debuted with the GT family – it’s a Titleist take on the carbon fiber trend, albeit an interesting one that has a focus on feedback.

The classic Titleist player is often one that looks for traditional feel and responses from the clubs that they play, so the engineers at the company have created a unique material, in-house, that allows them to save weight while also retaining the sound profile from a titanium crown to create a perfect blend.

The PMP also attaches to the underside of the club instead of the top, meaning the epoxy that holds the pieces together now directly contributes to lower CG positions. This is made possible through the Seamless Thermoform Crown technology that allows the carbon fiber to be shaped to the required needs of each head.

An L-Cup face and lowered leading edge help define the Titleist GT280 head shape

In addition to the CG (Center of Gravity) changes in height through the construction, the Titleist GT280 comes with front-to-rear adjustable weights, meaning the mini driver to be customized to your preference. Stock options include an 11-gram rear weight and 3-gram front weight, but you can also have up to 6 grams more or less weight installed during a fitting.

As always, the SureFit adaptor gives you 16 different loft sleeve positions, including a vast selection of shafts to be fitted for, besides the stock Mitsubishi Tensei 1K shaft options.

Finally, Titleist have used a combination of their forged L-Cup Face design along with a Lowered Leading Edge. The L-Cup shares its tech with some of the brand’s T-Series irons, which also use L-Cup Face to improve the structure of the lower face-to-sole connection. This means you’ll get stronger and thinner sections, allowing for better ball speed on strikes from closer to the bottom grooves.

The lowered leading edge means the GT280 hugs the ground more, giving a more confidence-inspiring look and help on the heel and toe misses.

Oh, and if you hadn’t guessed it yet – the name comes from the size of the club head at 280cc!

The Titleist GT280 is available for fitting and pre-sale today, and it will be in UK and Ireland golf shops beginning Friday 18th April.
