PXG joins the mini-driver party with launch of their ‘game changing’ Secret Weapon

Everything you need to know about the PXG Secret Weapon mini-driver and its Tour-winning technology.

Next to arrive at golf’s new year mini-driver party is PXG, unveiling their not-so-subtly dubbed ‘Secret Weapon’ that slots effortlessly into the Arizonian brand’s ‘Black Ops’ woods family. This 13-degree mass-market offering is a first for PXG and promises “big things” for golfers seeking the ideal blend of control and distance. In other words, everyone…but that’s not sexy marketing.

PXG Founder and CEO Bob Parsons said: “With the PXG Secret Weapon, we aimed to create a versatile mini-driver that allows better players to achieve remarkable consistency and performance both off the tee and off the deck.”

The Secret Weapon is PXG's first mini-driver available to the mass market.

Much like air fryers, mini-drivers are basking in golf’s limelight at present having managed to hit the sweetspot for skilled golfers who can capitalize on the versatility on offer. Tommy Fleetwood has long championed the mini with the TaylorMade BRNR being a mainstay in his bag over the past few seasons. Xander Schauffele and Akshay Bhatia have also swapped in 2-woods to their setups across the past year, gaming the Callaway Ai-Smoke Paradym Ti340.

PXG tour pros Jake Knapp and Eric Cole have already added the mini to their bags with Knapp immediately showcasing the Secret Weapon’s potential en route to a win at the Grant Thornton Invitational in December.

“The PXG Secret Weapon has been a game-changer for me. It really made a difference and helped my team secure the win. It’s great to have a club that is so reliable in the bag,” said Knapp.

PGA Tour winner Jake Knapp has called the PXG Secret Weapon a 'game-changer'.

The Technology

PXG says the Secret Weapon has been engineered with a high moment-of-inertia (MOI) to bolster stability and forgiveness. It has a lightweight composite carbon-fiber crown that has enabled the redistribution of weight within the clubhead, increasing MOI and shifting the center of gravity (CG) lower and further back.

As we’ve become accustomed to with PXG woods, the Secret Weapon features the brand’s Precision Weighting Technology with adjustable weights in the sole, standardized with two heavy weights (15g) and two light weights (2.5g), providing significant CG movement to dial in the ball flight. The mini-driver also features an adjustable hosel with lofts ranging between 11.5 and 13.5 degrees enabling golfers to achieve a high launch, low spin trajectory tailored to their unique swing.
