Jon Rahm signs huge equipment deal – but is there a bigger shock on the way?
Last updated:

It will come as little surprise that Jon Rahm and Callaway are officially back together. But is he alone? Here’s what we know so far…
It’s been the worst-kept secret in golf for the past couple of months, but now it’s confirmed that Jon Rahm is back with Callaway.
The two-time major champion has used Callaway equipment since 2021, having signed for the Carlsbad-based brand after leaving TaylorMade. And while his somewhat controversial move to LIV Golf at the start of last season saw resulted in the relationship coming to an end in an official capacity, Rahm continued to use their gear on a non-contract basis.
It will, of course, come as little surprise to anyone who follows these things closely. Rahm has, after all, played the first two LIV Golf tournaments of this season with the Callaway logo on the front of his cap. Last season, the Spaniard had the Legion XIII logo in that spot.
Then, of course, was the incident in January, when Rahm was a guest on sports business podcast The Joe Pomp Show, on which he told host Joe Pompliano that he had re-signed with Callaway.
The episode, which was also posted on YouTube, was swiftly removed – presumably after someone politely pointed out that none of this is actually official just yet.
But now it is – with the added news that Rahm’s Legion XIII teammates are also part of the deal.
Now, new signing Tom McKibbin and Caleb Surratt are already Callaway staffers, so that’s a no-brainer, but Tyrrell Hatton is not, and has not been mentioned by name in Callaway’s statement.
“I’m so happy to enhance this incredible relationship with Callaway and also extend it with Legion XIII,” Rahm said after it was confirmed Callaway would become the first OEM to sign a deal with a LIV Golf team.
“I’ve played the best golf of my career with their equipment over the past four years, and they continue to set the bar higher with every new product line.
“I know this partnership will have a tremendously positive impact for me and my teammates.”
Chip Brewer, the president and CEO of Topgolf Callaway Golf Brands, added: “We are happy to partner with a world-class athlete in Jon Rahm, and his Legion XIII team.
“We’re committed to being an equipment leader wherever top players are competing. Now the time is right to cement our relationship with Jon and his team – utilizing his exceptional talent and stature within the game to help engage and excite fans around the globe.”
