I tested every 2025 golf driver and this is the one I’d buy

By , Contributing Editor (mainly contributing unwanted sarcasm and iffy golf takes, to be honest)

Was it the fastest? No. Was it the longest? No. Was it my favorite golf driver of 2025? Absolutely. And here’s why…

When choosing the best golf driver for your game, performance numbers – things like ball speed, carry distance, spin rate, and forgiveness – matter a lot. But they’re not everything. You also want a driver that looks and feels right. Something that inspires confidence when you stand over the ball.

If you saw our test pro, Neil Wain, hitting golf balls, you might be forgiven for thinking he’s a robot – such is the consistency of his delivery and ball-striking. But he’s not (at least, as far as we can tell without breaching some personal boundaries and probably a few HR regulations).

Like any golfer, though, Neil chooses his clubs based on both performance and feel. It has to be a driver he’s excited to pull out of the bag on the 1st tee and one that fills him with confidence when he puts it behind the ball.

That’s why Neil’s favorite driver from the Today’s Golfer Drivers Test wasn’t the longest or fastest model he hit. Nor was it the driver we crowned the overall winner. It was the Srixon ZXi LS.

So, what makes it so special?

What our test pro said about the Srixon ZXi LS driver

“I wasn’t expecting it to be anywhere near as good as it actually is. It feels really good off the face – nice and hot. It looks good at address; I love how it sits nice and square when I put it down.

“The shape is more of a teardrop, but not too much – it’s not in your face. I love the matte finish and the fact there’s not too much going on.

“It feels really good and I think it sounds great.”

Neil also liked how versatile the Srixon ZXi LS is when it comes to custom fitting and adjustability: “If you like the shape of the head, you can adjust the settings and move the weights around to get your desired ball flight.”

Neil loved the looks, sound, and feel of the Srixon ZXi LS. And he was just as impressed by its performance.

How the Srixon ZXi LS driver performed in testing

In our driver test, the Srixon ZXi LS ranked seventh for total distance, finishing just 3.4 yards behind the Titleist GT3, which ranked second. The TaylorMade Qi35 LS was the clear winner for distance, but you can read why we wouldn’t recommend that to many golfers here:

The ZXi LS was also one of the most consistent drivers tested, with a standard deviation of just 4.4 yards across all the drives Neil hit with it.

And Neil wasn’t the only one impressed by the Srixon ZXi LS.

A club fit for the modern golfer

“Over the last few generations, Srixon has seriously upped its game in the woods category, producing some very high-quality clubs,” says TG Golf Equipment Writer Lewis Daff, a former Master Custom Fitter and Club Builder with over 5,000 fittings under his belt.

“One of the most impressive clubs of the last cycle was the ZX5 LS driver – something that quickly worked its way into the bags of elite players, including 2021 Masters Champion Hideki Matsuyama.

Hideki takes the Srixon ZXi driver out for a spin

“For 2025, the Srixon ZXi LS driver is a clear step forward, building on what made its predecessors a sleeper hit.

“The address position is fantastic, with subtle refinements from the old head. The ZXi LS sits lower and further back, helping to bring down the Center of Gravity while accommodating a new swappable weight system. The result? A more rounded, pear-shaped profile that golfers of all skill levels will appreciate.

“I really love the modern yet classic look of the ZXi LS, and all the ZXi drivers, for that matter. The matte crown sits beautifully against the turf, while the gloss streak on the sole adds an eye-catching detail when you first pick it up.

“There’s been clear attention to detail in the design – subtle red accents on the weights and a chrome ‘ZXi’ logo on the toe side of the base. These small touches add to the premium feel, making it a club that looks just as good in the bag as it does behind the ball.”

Lewis was hugely impressed by the versatility of the Srixon ZXi LS, which you can read about in his full review here:

Test Pro's Choice Driver of 2025
What we say:
The Srixon ZXi LS is our testing pro’s choice driver of 2025 and with plenty of reason. Srixon have done a stellar job designing a super clean look to their equipment that provides a nice understatement to the performance on offer. While it didn’t out and out win in the Low Spin category, it produced numbers that Neil, our pro, was impressed with while also being one of his favorite heads to look down at.

What our tester says:
I love how the Srixon ZXi series looks. There’s nothing busy about it, it's nice and simple. The matte crown appeals to me but I’ve been really surprised by how well it flies. It'll be a great driver for more golfers than just the normal LS player.
