I’m a golf expert and these are my 7 KEYS TO FINDING BARGAINS in Amazon’s Prime Big Deals Days

Amazon Prime Big Deals Days are here with the shopping giant slashing prices across thousands of products for the next two days. But if you’re a golf nut looking for a bargain, is it actually a good time to shop?

Many golfers don’t realise than Amazon is a fantastic place to buy golf products with everything from clubs and balls to bags and GPS devices available and, with Prime, your shiny new purchases will be at your door (or left in your safe space) in time for your weekend fourball.

I regularly use Amazon to stock up on golf balls or replenish my supply of tees and gloves for that very reason – it’s easy, convenient and, usually, better value than heading into my pro shop at 6.30am on a Saturday.

You're Prime Big Deals Days purchases could be on your doorstep tomorrow morning!

But if you were to ask me if you should be splashing the cash during this 48-hour Amazon Prime Big Deals Days window, my answer would be simple (and annoying non-commital). It depends.

I can hear you all shouting “Get off that fence, Rob,” but hear me out before you start searching for bargains.

You must remember that Amazon don’t put on these sales as a huge favor to you, the consumer. They do it because they want people to part with their hard-earned cash and to clear stock, some of which they’ve been struggling to get rid of. It’s like any sale – a chance to make money and make room.

Follow my in-depth shopping guide below to ensure you get the best out of the Prime Days.

Amazon Prime Day Golf Club Deals

Use our buying guides!

If you don’t want to spend hours hunting through the deals on Amazon, then my team of experts have done the hard work for you, so use the menu below to head to any of our guides and save yourself the hard work. We won’t recommend any products that we don’t believe to be worth the money.

Only buy products you already wanted!

Sounds simple, eh? But these sales are designed to tempt you to part with your money. Big banners telling you how much you can save, tempting marketing photography, stock counters showing the product running out, timers counting down until the ‘deal’ ends. They’re all put in place to make you want to spend and spend quickly. Trust me, I spent 15 minutes this morning lusting after a shiny golf cart that had 14% off… but I play at a course where carts can’t be used in the winter, and it was out of my budget!

The Kandi America Electric Cart caught our writer's eye, but it wasn't on his shopping list!

Before logging on, have in mind exactly what you’re looking for and stick to it. Don’t end up buying another games console or the latest Echo Dot that you don’t need when you were actually looking for a golf bag and putting mat.

It’s fine to be looking for a specific product and then buy an alternative if it still meets your criteria and is a better offer. I’ve often saved money by buying a different brand’s version of the same type product, but only once I’ve established that it will provide me with all of the same functionality and performance.  What I wouldn’t do is head to Amazon to buy a box of premium golf balls and walk away with a box of distance balls, just because they were £20 cheaper! Stick to your guns and avoid temptation… even if Augusta would look great on that massive TV.

Think outside the box

These sales aren’t just a good opportunity to pick up the items on your shopping list for a cheaper price, but a great way to protect your valuable golf equipment. While I don’t want anyone to spend money they don’t have on products they don’t need, I also don’t want anyone being left out of pocket if their golf equipment goes missing or is stolen.

If I was to suggest two products you have to buy during the latest Amazon Deals Days, they wouldn’t be clubs or balls, they’d be a security camera and bag tags. Inevitably you’ll be keeping your clubs in your shed or garage (that’s if you even bother taking them out of your car) – two easy-access buildings for any would-be thieves. Put up a cheap security camera with WiFi capabilities to offer an extra layer of protection. A Blink Outdoor is a great option and has 60% off during Big Deals Days.

And be sure to buy some tracker tags, and drop a couple in your golf bag. If your clubs go missing while traveling on airlines it’ll make them easier to get back. And if they’re stolen, having two tags in different parts of your bag makes it less likely the thieves will spot both and give you more chance of finding them.

Apple’s version is fantastic, but you can pick up a pack of three lesser-known, but equally good tags for less than $25. They connect up to your phone really easily.

Take advantage of the free Amazon Prime trial

If you’re not a Prime member but want to make purchases you’re going to need to sign up but with 30 days free access there’s no cost attached – just remember to cancel your subscription after the deals have ended. You can always grab another free trial when the Black Friday offers start to kick in at the start of November.

Use Amazon’s search bar and filters

Don’t spend hours just scrolling through air fryers, baby accessories and beauty products in the hope of spotting a box of Pro V1s or an Under Armour polo shirt. Note, if you are looking for Pro V1s, I’d recommend you buy Kirkland for less than a 1/3 of the price!

Head to the Big Deals Days section and start your hunt using the search bar and filters. Simply searching ‘golf’ will bring up the offers and you can narrow it down futher with more specific terms or by changing the filters for price and star ratings. My advice would be to always set the rating at four stars and above as that will clear out any products that users have deemed average or worse.

Always read the reviews before making purchases.

Read the product reviews

A good price doesn’t equal a good product. Hopefully you’ve followed the above advice and filtered out anything that hasn’t received overly positive feedback, but even then it’s worth reading through the reviews to get a feel for the item and whether it has performed in the manner expected by other users. They’ll often upload images of the product, too, which allows you to see the real thing, rather than those shiny marketing pictures.

And give the product a quick Google so you can check out some other expert and long-term reviews to ensure your money really is worth parting with.

Do your research!

Check if the product is cheaper elsewhere, even during the deals days. Some retailers will drop their own prices to try and attract business from online shoppers during these periods, so it’s always worth heading to Dick’s Sporting Goods, Worldwide Golf Stores or PGA Tour Superstore so see if you can get a better price. A quick Google should tell you if it’s being sold more cheaply elsewhere. It could even be that you’ll pay the same price but could get a longer warranty or some free accessories, especially with bigger purchases like golf carts.

Use a price tracker to see if the deal is as good as it seems!

Get a price tracker

So often when big sales are ahead, retailers will push the prices of products back up to normal for a few weeks so that it looks like they’ve been slashed when the ‘deals’ are announced. In fact, you’re just paying the same price as you could have paid two months ago. A price tracker monitors this and will show you whether the deal you’re getting is actually as attractive as it’s being made to look. Of course, if you want the product and are happy with the price, that shouldn’t stop you taking advantage, but it’s just worth checking that it hasn’t been cheaper in the past. We use Keepa, which is a free plugin.
