Mizuno’s new Pro X and Pro S golf balls aim to challenge premium brands at a fraction of the price

Mizuno unveil their latest Tour-level golf balls at an extraordinary price, here’s everything you need to know about the Mizuno Pro X and Mizuno Pro S

The premium golf ball market is incredibly competitive, and with the launch of the Mizuno Pro X and Mizuno Pro S golf balls, the marketplace just got even more crowded. Mizuno haven’t always been in the conversation for the best golf balls, but they’re hoping to change that in 2025. One factor that can lead to the Pro golf balls gaining popularity is their price – I can already see them challenging for the top spot with regard to value.

It’s very rare for premium golf balls to hit the marketplace with an RRP less than $50 in the US and £45 in the UK, but the Mizuno Pro golf balls comfortably fall below that mark with an RRP of $47.99 in the US and £40 in the UK. They are very reasonably priced for a Tour-level golf ball, but only through testing will we find out if they’re good value for money.

With the introduction of the Pro X and Pro S golf balls there’s a potential for the “nothing feels like a Mizuno” phrase to extend to golf balls as well as golf clubs. Mizuno are one of the leading manufacturers of quality golf clubs, from drivers to putters. The most popular Mizuno products on Tour are their iron sets which are revered by many golfers as being the best irons in the game. Mizuno golf balls are less popular among the pros, but that could all change with the Pro X and Pro S models.

Mizuno Pro X and Mizuno Pro S Golf Balls

Mizuno are proud to welcome the Pro X and Pro S golf balls into the esteemed Mizuno Pro family given that they embody the brand’s relentless pursuit of performance excellence. Both models have been designed to meet the demands of elite golfers and those who enjoy playing with a premium golf ball. These Tour-level golf balls deliver advanced aerodynamics, enhanced speed, and exceptional control to complement any playing style.

We didn’t test any Mizuno golf balls in either our 2023 golf ball robot test or 2024 robot test, but that’s likely to change in 2025 because both the Pro X and Pro S are expected to be tested this year.

Key technology of the Mizuno Pro X and Mizuno Pro S golf balls

Enhanced Construction

A 12% thinner cover and 6% thicker mantle layer work together to increase ball speed, ensuring exceptional distance off the tee and crisp, responsive performance on approach shots.

Axial Flow Dimple Design

The innovative 332 Axial Flow Dimple Design optimizes surface coverage to reduce air resistance. This enhanced aerodynamics promotes a stable and penetrating ball flight, even in challenging conditions.

Tailored Trajectory

The Mizuno Pro X is designed to produce a higher trajectory, ideal for players seeking greater apex height and a steeper landing angle on the greens. Whereas, the Mizuno Pro S offers a mid-trajectory, making it an ideal choice for players seeking a penetrating ball flight paired with exceptional control.
