TaylorMade are rolling back the years again with their latest Mini Driver offering, with the TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini Driver featuring technology from the past and present to help you improve your game.

TaylorMade, who have long since produced some of the best metalwoods of recent years (most recently the Qi35 family), have announced the R7 Quad Mini Driver, their 2025 Mini Driver replacing the TaylorMade BRNR Mini. Inspired by one of the most iconic drivers in the company’s history — the R7 and R7 SuperQuad — the R7 Quad Mini honors its legacy while forging a fresh, modern identity of its own through new technology.

“The R7 Quad Mini Driver is one of those projects that got everyone excited from the initial concept, and being able to bring back one of the most iconic clubs in TaylorMade history (R7 Driver) was a dream come true. We couldn’t be more excited to continue setting the pace in the Mini Driver category.”Chandler Carr, TaylorMade Product Manager, Product Creation

TaylorMade have looked back in the past to create inspiration for their Mini Drivers in recent years. The first was the 300 Series Mini Driver in 2021, merging past to present from a metalwood family released in 2000.

2025 sees TaylorMade turn to 2004, with the TaylorMade R7 Driver being their creative assert for the new model. The TaylorMade R7 was used for over 30 worldwide wins in its tenure, including the 2004 U.S. Open with Retief Goosen.

Quad Weighting for Maximum Adjustability

The original R7 driver was the first to feature TaylorMade’s revolutionary Movable Weight Technology, paving the way for the golf industry to use adjustability in various different methods. The R7 Quad Mini Driver carries on that legacy, incorporating the same innovative technology to let golfers fine-tune spin, distance, trajectory, and shot shape through precise CG (center of gravity) placement.

The R7 Quad Weighting System includes two 13g and two 4g weights, with two ports located at the back of the clubhead and one each on the toe and heel. Shifting weight toward the front promotes a penetrating ball flight, perfect for maximizing distance and lowering spin.. On the other hand, placing more weight toward the back of the clubhead helps generate greater control and makes it easier to launch shots from the turf. You see similar systems in the PXG Secret Weapon and Callaway Elyte Mini Driver, although not to this extent.

The weights mentioned above can be ordered custom, meaning the adjustability goes even further for golfers who want to fine-tune their game.

Inifinity Carbon Crown for a Modern Refresh

The R7 aesthetic has been updated in 2025 to include the inifinity carbon crown that we’ve seen in the Qi10 metalwood family onwards. The inifnity carbon crown saves weight in comparison to previous materials that engineers have developed, meaning that the saved weight can be repositioned across the clubhead to improve stability and increase efficiency. The inifinty carbon crowns allows the R7 Quad Mini Driver to sit alongisde the new TaylorMade Qi35 metalwood family with a sleek, modern aeshetic from the playing profile inspiring confidence to the amateur golfer.

Current TaylorMade Tech

It’s not surprise to see Twist Face included in the R7 Quad Mini Driver, TaylorMade revolutionary face technology desinged to help downrange dispersion on mishits across the toe and heel of the club. For shots struck low on the face (or even anywhere acorss the face), Speed Pocket enhances face flex and rebound at impact to boost ball speed and improve launch conditions. These two elements coupled together make an old-school design deliver modern results, in a forgiving package made for any amateur golfer.

Unique Package

The head is not the only element that is special with the R7 Quad Mini Driver. The stock Fujikura Speeder MD (Mini Driver)shaft is specifically designed to help keep spin rates low while also aiding in stability without adding weight.

That being said, we would always recommend sourcing out a custom fitting session for any club you want to put in your bag. Although this shaft may work for a variety of amatuer golfers, every swing is different.
