Callaway reveal 2023 golf balls with models for every handicap
Last updated:
Callaway unveil seven new and improved generations of their renowned golf balls for 2023, with a tech-packed model to suit every handicap.
Callaway balls have always proven to be a favorite with club golfers and there’s no doubt they are amongst the best golf balls on the market. That trend looks set to continue in 2023 with new iterations of several of their best-known balls.
The ERC Soft, ERC Soft Reva, Supersoft, Supersoft Matte, Supersoft Max, Warbird and Reva have all been upgraded, with a host of new tech, including a Grip Urethane Coating System and HyperElastic SoftFast core for increased ball speeds. The new models will support the Tour-level Chrome Soft balls, which have already helped Jon Rahm to victory this year.
Callaway update their balls biennially, so we expect to see new Chrome Soft models in 2024, but eagle-eyed buyers will spot ‘Precision Technology’ on the premium balls’ boxes. The brand believes it’s the most consistent ball they’ve ever produced, with the tightest dispersion, fast ball speeds and total performance.
Callaway ERC Soft 2023 Golf Ball
RRP £44 / $39.99 per dozen
The 2023 iteration of the ERC Soft is Callaway’s longest golf ball with a soft feel and greenside control. The brand have introduced a range of new technologies to help golfers get the most out of their game and, as well as being one of our best golf balls and best winter golf balls.
The latest iteration sees Callaway introduce an all-new Grip Urethane cover and HyperElastic core to help deliver a soft feel through the bag, deliver incredible distance, and give greater greenside spin and control.
The hybrid cover is a versatile, multi-material construction, and, as the price suggests, Callaway believe it competes with the rest of the “better player” balls on the market. As well as being long and soft, it’s high launching and impressively durable.
The high-speed mantle allows the ERC Soft to create a more efficient energy transfer between the layers of the ball for more speed and provides more wedge spin around the green.
And there’s an upgrade to the Triple Track technology with a new pointier ‘dagger’ design for the blue and red alignment aid.
The ERC Soft is available in white and yellow, with a new Reva model targeting women golfers who want a more premium ball.
The ERC Soft and ERC Soft Reva are available from February 2.
Callaway Supersoft and Supersoft MAX 2023 Golf Balls
RRP £29 / $24.99 per dozen
The Callaway Supersoft is one of the most popular balls in golf and we think it’s one of the best for beginners and high handicappers. There are many reasons why it’s so successful. As the name suggests, it’s super soft, but it’s also impressively long and encourages a straight flight.
Callaway say the 2023 version is their most refined yet, further enhancing all of its benefits to improve your performance from tee to green.
The HyperElastic SoftFast Core has been optimized for faster speed and a soft feel around the green. And like the ERC Soft, the hybrid cover allows more wedge control and a soft feel but doesn’t diminish the ball’s distance or durability.
The Supersoft MAX replaced the Supersoft Magna back in 2020, and the 2023 version is better than ever. This oversized golf ball targets golfers seeking that bit of extra confidence. The MAX has all of the same tech offered to golfers by the standard Supersoft but it’s 3% bigger. It fully complies with the Rules of Golf but should make this devilishly difficult game that little bit easier for newcomers and higher handicappers.
As well as the standard white, the 2023 Supersoft is available in a host of eye-catching matte finishes too. Take your pick from green, yellow, red, orange, white, and pink.
The Supersoft models are available from January 26.
Callaway Warbird 2023 Golf Ball
RRP £21 / $19.99 per dozen
The Warbird has always been designed for maximum distance and the 2023 version is no different.
Made up of two layers, Callaway have used a large high-energy, highly-compressible core and HEX aerodynamics on the ionomer cover to maximize speed, carry, and launch, while reducing drag.
The two-piece Warbird is one of the best balls for beginners and high handicappers, as well as those with a slower swing speed providing exceptional distance and decent enough feel around the greens.
Reva is available from February 2.
Callaway REVA 2023 Golf Ball
RRP £29 / $24.99 per dozen
Reva joined Callaway’s lineup in 2021 and is one of the best golf balls for ladies. It is aimed at improving distance, ball flight, and consistency.
Callaway have enhanced this year’s model to promote an easy, high launch and more forgiveness, pushing the boundaries to develop an oversized ball that conforms to the rules of golf. The larger core construction helps lower spin and create longer, more accurate shots, making it ideal for players seeking more consistency.
Reva is available from January 26.
