The ultimate golf club custom-fitting experience

Why Scottsdale Golf’s new custom-fitting centre is the place to go if you want to be treated like a tour pro when buying your new clubs and equipment.

This is a promotional feature produced by Today’s Golfer in conjunction with Scottsdale Golf.

Golfer Sam Hurst was in the market for a new driver and decided to take advantage of a rare opportunity that he’d seen advertised on Scottsdale Golf’s social media channels.

Just a week after supporting the world’s best players at The Open Championship, the TaylorMade Tour Truck rolled into Warrington for a day-long stop at Scottsdale’s superb new facility.

With limited spaces, appointments were highly sought after, as all customers booked in for a fitting that day would receive a full guided tour of TaylorMade’s fabulous fitting centre on wheels.

Sam, along with 17 other golfers throughout the course of the day, received a fitting for a new TaylorMade driver from one of Scottsdale’s custom-fit specialists and then climbed the hallowed steps into the tour truck, where they were given the full tour experience by Dan Morris, TaylorMade’s Experiential Manager.

Each customer was made to feel special by the superb TaylorMade staff as they were shown all the high-tech machinery that only a few days earlier had worked on Collin Morikawa’s clubs before he won The Open.

There were some inside scoops on certain tour players’ wants and needs, and some fabulous ‘on tour’ anecdotes were recited by the team. Eyes were wide open as customers were shown the individual shaft sections of such players as Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy, and their own specific drawers filled with their unique grips.

The TaylorMade Tour Truck headed straight to Scottsdale Golf's HQ from The Open.

Sam enthused about the whole experience, claiming he was like “a kid in a sweetshop”.

“It was absolutely fascinating – I’ve learnt so much and it was just a privilege to be on there, where all TaylorMade’s top players have been in the past week,” he said.

“Getting the driver was the key thing from the day, but this was a proper bonus on top of that. I’ve been treated like a tour pro even though I don’t swing it like one! It’s not a day I’m going to forget in a hurry.”

Sam had one of the shorter trips of the lucky customers who managed to secure an appointment on the day. Hailing from Chorley, his 40-minute journey was eclipsed by the customers who travelled from such places as Ipswich, Kent and Bournemouth.

Each golfer was fitted in Scottsdale Golf’s newly-opened, state-of-the art facility in the north-west of England.

Opened in December of 2020 by Ryder Cup player Tyrrell Hatton, this premier fitting centre has quickly established itself as one of the finest in the country, with a luxurious interior, the latest launch monitor technology, highly experienced fitters and huge options in iron and driver shafts all on offer.

The tag line for Scottsdale Golf’s new location is ‘Fit-Build-Play’, which relates to each customer relaxing and watching master craftsmen build their clubs in front of their eyes as soon as they’ve been fitted. No four-month waits for custom-fit orders here – simply sit back with a coffee or beer and walk out with your bespoke clubs a short time later.

Scottsdale Golf are component stockists and authorised builders for all the major brands, and each of their master craftsmen work to some of the strictest tolerances found in the golf industry to deliver the exact specifications decided upon in the fitting.

After your fitting, the Scottsdale Golf team build your clubs while you wait so you can take them home on the same day.

So, even if the TaylorMade Tour Truck isn’t parked outside, a trip to Scottsdale Golf is both a rewarding and highly enjoyable experience. Keep your eyes peeled though, as the next Tour Truck event may not be too far away, and you could be that kid in the sweetshop.

Scottsdale Golf’s new facility is located four minutes from J20 of the M6. You can book an appointment by clicking here.
