Under Armour unveil new and improved golf footwear range for 2017

The UA Tour Tips will be worn by Matthew Fitzpatrick this season

Under Armour has launched its full footwear range for 2017, with four new styles joining the signature Spieth One shoes.

The UA Tour Tips, which retail at £130, is designed to offer ‘premium Tour level’ and is currently being worn by Gary Woodland and Matthew Fitzpatrick.

Like the Spieth One, the model incorporates UA Storm technology and is both breathable and waterproof. Rotational Resistance Spikes have also been added to lock down traction and prevent slippage during both the loading phase of the swing and at impact.

The result is a look not too dissimilar to last year’s UA Tour Tempo shoes, but one which delivers improved stability, comfort and support.

Unlike last year, golfers can also get their hands on a third performance spike offering from Under Armour, thanks to the launch of Tempo Sport.

Available in three colourways, the Tempo Sport resembles a structured shoe in performance but a hybrid shoe in style. The trendy, textile mesh upper pays homage to the name of the shoe and is a world away from the stiff, understated look of traditional golfing footwear. 

The fact it is one of the cheapest model’s in Under Armour’s range (RRP £120) makes it an attractive choice for golfers who are still hanging onto their youth, or at the very least want to embrace the cool, casual trainer look. 

But if you prefer to lace up a spikeless shoe, the UA Performance SL could be the one for you. It’s arguably the most versatile and at £110 (RRP), it’s also the cheapest too. 

Style wise, it certainly hits the mark and would look just at home paired with shorts on the golf course or jeans on a night out. Crucially though, Under Armour hasn’t scrimped on performance technology.

The material is both water resistant and breathable, and the outsole includes an innovative Rotational Resistance design which aids flexibility and prevents rotational slipping.

Completing Under Armour footwear line-up is the returning UA Hybrid shoe, which comes fitted with strategically-placed rubber pods on the outsole for extra grip.

Interestingly, the model is the only style which remains from last year and is now available in a choice of three colourways, including an all-new black version. The RRP is £120.
