Titleist unveil new Pro V1 and Pro V1x
Published:
Titleist have revealed the new 2017 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls for 2017.
The Pro V1’s been part of golf since the year 2000. Every few years updates eek out a couple yards of distance, a touch more feel and extra spin.

But Titleist reckon the newest versions are so improved their tour stars are reassessing whether they’re Pro V1 or Pro V1X players.
At a glance technology:
Lower long game spin and faster ball speed
Titleist say that the next generation 2.0 ZG Process Core in the Pro V1 delivers longer distance on all shots through lower long game spin and faster ball speed, while maintaining a soft feel and short-game performance. The Pro V1x features a ZG Process Dual Core to help increase distance.
More consistent ball flight
Titleist’s engineers have developed a new spherically tiled 352 tetrahedral dimple design that they say produces a penetrating trajectory to help golfers achieve more consistent bll flight. The Pro V1x also features a new spherically tiled 328 tetrahedral dimple design that helps produce high trajectory.
Drop-and-Stop greenside control
A soft urethane elastomer cover system, created by a chemical reaction that takes place during the casting process, is used on both the 2017 Pro V1 and Pro V1x and Titleist say it makes the golf balls more durable as well as helping golfers achieve drop-and-stop greenside control.
Speaking about the 2017 ball, current world number seven Adam Scott said, “I think the remarkable thing with the new Pro V1 is how far it goes now. I’m hitting it longer than I ever have but I also have that soft feel like when I grew up playing a balata golf ball – it’s incredibly soft.”
The new Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls will be available in golf shops from Wednesday January 25th, RRP £52.
