Wilson Staff reveal new FG Tour V6 irons

Wilson have a long history of producing great irons for tour professionals. Monty, Faldo, Vijay Singh and Arnold Palmer all used the companies models during their careers and thanks to keeping such illustrious company the brands irons have won 61 major championships, more than any other brand in golf. It’s no surprise then the new FG Tour V6 irons are designed to be a players iron. But Wilson reckon thanks to the tech that’s wrapped up in the V6’s construction, they’re just as capable at delivering ultimate feel and precision shot-shaping for regular golfers as they can in the hands of a tour professional.

Each V6 head is created from 8620 forged carbon steel to deliver great strike feedback. Progressive tungsten weighting throughout the set changes position to enhance MOI, playability and control, meaning overall increased playability. The 3, 4 and 5 irons have 20 grams of tungsten split between the toe and heel to raise MOI on off centre hits. This extra low and deep mass increases launch to make the long irons more playable but without increasing spin. Centre sole weighting in the 6, 7 and 8 iron lowers the centre of gravity increasing forgiveness, and Wilson reckons 38g of mass behind the hitting area gives a muscleback feel but with cavity back performance.

Standard stock sets (4-PW) will come with True Temper Dynamic Gold AMT shafts and a £699 RRP. For further information visit www.wilson.com
