Callaway reveal new Apex Black irons

We loved the Callaway Apex irons when we tested them in our mega Top Gear test earlier in the year, but the company reckon they’ve taken perfection one step further with the unveiling of their new Apex Black irons.

Essentially the set are built on the same chassis as the Apex CF 16’s, meaning you get plenty of forged feel from the 1025 carbon steel heads, and a 360 Face Cup to deliver consistent ball speeds across the face. A multi-piece construction runs throughout the set which Callaway say enables them to combine distance with feel and control for all types of golfers. Progressive sole widths, offset, CG heights  and notch weighting complete the perfect balance of playability, forgiveness and control.

So what’s new? Well the heads come with a sleek black PVD finish which looks great at address and as standard you get some seriously stealth blacked out True Temper XP95 steel shafts or UST Recoil ES 760 graphite. If these aren’t to your taste you can choose from a range of premium shaft options to customize your set without the addition of any upcharges.

Perfection comes at a price (£999 steel, £1249 graphite) and because the Apex Black are available custom order only and in limited quantities you’ll need to be quick to snaffle yourself a set. They’re available from June 2016 for further information visit www.callawaygolf.com
