Once you get a laser or GPS and get used to having an exact yardage for every shot, you can’t remember how you ever got by without it. Golf gloves are about as fun to buy as new tyres for your car, but they’re just as important. Persevering with a knackered old mitt because you don’t want to shell out £20 for a new one in the pro shop will cause you to grip the club tighter, which will have disastrous effects on your shots. 

Save yourself the hassle – and plenty of money – by buying a pack of five. These leather Callaway gloves work out at just £8.35 per glove. The other benefit of buying in bulk is that you can rotate your glove from one round to the next, which increases the lifespan of both gloves.
