TaylorMade release new M1 and M2 drivers, fairways, hybrids and irons

When Porsche, BMW or Mercedes launch a new car, they often do so under the guise of a well-established and successful brand – think 911, 3 Series, S-Class.

TaylorMade believes its M family of woods built up so much credibility in 2016 – it was the No.1 driver on tour, in the bag of the world’s No.1 and No.2, put in play by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy – that they didn’t want to lose that momentum.

So for the first time they have retained the M badge for 2017, albeit on significantly different and improved clubs.

TaylorMade reveal new M1 woods

TaylorMade’s new M1 family may have same name as the original, but it’s been totally re-engineered for extra forgiveness. It still has a distinctive carbon crown, but TaylorMade have taken the original M1 back to its individual components and improved each of them for a noticeable gain for all golfers.

TaylorMade’s M2 driver was brilliant, and it had plenty of success with tour players in 2016. Dustin Johnson, Sergio, Justin Rose and lots of others put the TaylorMade M2 in play (and won) and Rory chose to put it in the bag after Nike ceased production of hardware. The M2 has amazong power and forgiveness.

The brief for the new TaylorMade M1 irons was simple. Combine the forgiveness and playability of the original, with the slot technology of the RSi irons in a compact iron head. Sounds simple but game improvement technology and compact iron heads don’t usually go together.

Game improvement irons are designed to help you hit the golf ball higher, further and more consistently. Performance wise, the original M2 irons delivered in all three areas.
