St Andrews Links in talks to add another world-class golf course to its portfolio

The St Andrews Links Trust could soon take over the management of an eighth course in the Home of Golf
The St Andrews Links Trust is looking to make its already impressive roster of golf courses even better and offer more choice for ticket holders and visitors alike.
The Home of Golf organization already manages some of the finest links in the land, including the famous Old Course, as well as the New, Jubilee, Eden, Strathtyrum, Balgove and Castle courses.
And while the plans are subject to finalization, the Trust is confident of adding an eighth wonder to its stewardship by taking over the Duke’s course, clubhouse and driving range from the Old Course Hotel Golf Resort & Spa, which is owned by US-based company Kohler.
First laid out in 1995 by five-time Open champion Peter Thomson, the 18-hole championship Duke’s course – which describes itself as “the Home of Golf’s only heathland” – is set in the hills to the south-west of the Auld Grey Toon and offers glorious panoramic views over St Andrews and the bay.
Neil Coulson, the St Andrews Links Trust’s chief executive, said: “This would be an exciting opportunity to expand the range of exceptional golfing experiences we offer.
“The addition of The Duke’s Course to our portfolio would increase tee time availability for our ticket holders and visitors while continuing to uphold the traditions and excellence synonymous with St Andrews.
“We have a strong and long-standing relationship with the Old Course Hotel Golf Resort & Spa as our close neighbours in St Andrews and as positive talks continue, we hope to be able to announce more details soon.”
