TECH TALK By using an elastomer coating instead of a urethane insert to dampen vibration, Wilson saved 12 grams of weight that was placed low and deep to promote a higher trajectory. The company’s trademark wide-tip shaft is designed to increase stability for shots struck on the toe.

M “These feel so soft, it’s like hitting cotton balls instead of golf balls.” … “They look good in the paddock but don’t have enough bulk to be attractive to hackers. Only 18-handicappers and lower should take these out on the track.”
HOT This is a nice change from some of the gigantic irons in this category. You won’t be hitting baby cuts to a back-right pin with these, but the technology is convincing, and the look is attractive. Ample perimeter weighting minimises errant shots, and the offset helps square the face and get the ball up in the air.
NOT Some of our panellists found the grip’s firmness and stylistic furrows irritating.
