TECH TALK The body, made from 17-4 stainless steel, has a tungsten weight in the toe that varies in mass to optimise the CG in each iron. Stabiliser bars in the long irons are narrower than in previous S-series versions to improve ball speed.

HOT From a functionality standpoint, there were a lot of reasons to like Ping irons in this category previously, but now the company has added the feel and look to match. Well done. Plus, Louis Oosthuizen won the Open using these.

NOT Unless you’re planning on trying to qualify for the Open, you might want to look at the more-forgiving Anser irons.
