TECH TALK Nike has refined its compression-channel sole technology and incorporated it into this fairway wood. The purpose is to add spring to the face for increased rebound, especially on low hits. The smaller head, flat sole and shallow profile are tour-inspired, but the new model has a lower CG that helps launch the ball higher. An adjustable hosel provides users with 32 face-angle options.

HOT Because fairway woods are mainly used off the ground, Nike’s compression channel might make even more sense in this club than in any of its others. Painting the adjustable hosel black helped improve the looks.
NOT We’d like to meet any golfer who needs 32 settings for a 3-wood.
