3 great courses to play golf in Paris

Planning to travel to Paris to spectate at the 2018 Ryder Cup and not thinking of playing some golf when you’re there? Crazy.
To be at the biennial showdown in Paris in the autumn two years hence and not be already planning to play at least three rounds is a wasted opportunity. It is patently the most well-endowed capital city in Continental Europe, with a selection of elite courses that even most of the key golfing areas of Britain would struggle to match. Beneath that wealth of Top 100 venues are a collection of lesser-known courses that not only augment a trip here but also balance the budget.
This list could be even more lengthy if it wasn’t for the fact Morfontaine and Les Bordes – ranked no.1 and no.2 respectively in Golf World’s Continental European Top 100 and situated to the north and south of Paris – were not so exclusive. This is a frustrating scenario, for they really are courses of exceptionally rare calibre, and so it is worth investigating access to them through the well-connected Private Golf Key.
Even without that pair, Paris still has tremendous depth to its offering.
Fontainebleau, a wonderful heathland-woodland to the south east of the sprawling capital.
Crecy, by Arnold Palmer’s design team in the Marne Valley, is the pick of the two on site and is one of the under-the-radar courses around Paris.
Les Aisses, one of the strongest contenders for Golf World’s 2015 Continental Europe Top 100. There are three loops of 9 holes, with the Rouge and Blanc the pick. Martin Hawtree recently ehanced this majestic woodland.
