What we say...

All new technologies used by Callaway will see them deliver their longest ball with a soft feel and greenside control to date with the 2023 ERC Soft golf ball.

The 2023 iteration of the ERC Soft is Callaway’s longest golf ball with a soft feel and greenside control. The brand have introduced a range of new technologies to help golfers get the most out of their game.

The latest iteration of ERC Soft – one of the best balls for club golfers – sees Callaway introduce an all-new Grip Urethane cover and HyperElastic core to help deliver a soft feel through the bag, deliver incredible distance, and give greater greenside spin and control.

Callaway ERC Soft are amongst the best golf balls for amateur golfers

The hybrid cover is a versatile, multi-material construction, and, as the price suggests, Callaway believe it competes with the rest of the “better player” balls on the market. As well as being long and soft, it’s high launching and impressively durable.

The high-speed mantle allows the ERC Soft to create a more efficient energy transfer between the layers of the ball for more speed and provides more wedge spin around the green.

And there’s an upgrade to the Triple Track technology with a new pointier ‘dagger’ design for the blue and red alignment aid, along with a new 360 Fade alignment aid, which gradually changes from red to blue or vice-versa.

The ERC Soft is available in white and yellow, with a new Reva model targeting women golfers who want a more premium ball.

For 2023 Callaway have introduced the ERC Soft REVA. It’s a ball designed to unlock new levels of performance in the woman’s ball market.

The ERC Soft REVA golf ball has the same benefits and features as the standard ERC Soft golf ball for 2023 it will be using Callaway’s new HyperElastic core and their new GRIP cover.

This is a cheeky offering that irks some brands, as they believe its hybrid cover is different from the models it’s most often put up against. However, the ERC is a three-piece golf ball and it’s aimed at club golfers like you.

A fourth, first, and second longest performance at 85mph/100mph driver speeds and 7-iron respectively says everything you need to know about the ball’s distance credentials.

Just be aware the model is low spin, which means giving up around 200rpm at 85-100mph with a driver, and 696rpm/326rpm with a 7-iron and wedge, versus our test averages.

The model was our lowest iron spin ball within the three-piece club golfer category, but it wasn’t our lowest spinning wedge ball, but it offers a decent blend of both distance and wedge control.

Impressively the ERC was our most accurate 7-iron ball with an impossibly tiny 2.7yds sq, which helped it beat our test average from all five situations by 9%. But, if accuracy is your number one requirement the Wilson Triad (which targets a similar golfer) gave a tighter dispersion by 11.2yds sq.
