Located in the heart of Ayrshire’s golf coast, Dundonald Links is a spectacular venue that has recently hosted both the men’s and women’s Scottish Opens, becoming the first course to stage both events in the same year in 2017. Since 2023, the acclaimed layout has also played host to Final Qualifying for the Open Championship.

The original layout was designed by Willie Fernie, the Champion Golfer of 1883, and opened in 1911. However, it was an extensive renovation by American architect Kyle Phillips two decades ago that made Dundonald Links one of Scotland’s most popular venues. The layout is known for its imaginative greens and challenging bunkers, earning a place among the star names of western Scotland. Phillips has returned to Ayrshire twice – in 2013 and 2021 – to make major improvements to his original design, which features teeing options to suit professional players and novices alike.

Under new owners Darwin Escapes, heavy investment has seen Dundonald Links evolve into a fully-fledged resort. Guests can stay in either the premium rooms or a collection of luxurious, self-catering lodges, all just a stone’s throw from the golf course and clubhouse. The Canny Crow restaurant and whisky room pay tribute to the resort’s heritage while maintaining a contemporary feel, crafting a one-of-a-kind golf venue experience.
