What’s In The Bag: Wyndham Clark

He changed clubs and won three times in nine months… We delve into the bag of Wyndham Clark to review his choice of clubs and ball.

JUMP TO: Wyndham Clark’s WITB

Wyndham Clark is a professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour since 2018.

Today's Golfer What's In The Bag is brought to you in association with Callaway Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X golf balls.

After a few solid but unspectacular seasons, Clark really pushed on in 2023 and 2024, winning three events in nine months.

Wyndham Clark with the Wells Fargo Championship trophy.

His first victory came at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship, with an impressive 19 under par total the second-lowest score in relation to par in the tournament’s history.

Five weeks later, Clark won the 2023 US Open at Los Angeles Country Club in just his seventh major start. His previous best major finish had been a T-75 at the 2021 PGA Championship, but Clark posted a 10-under total to edge out Rory McIlroy by a shot.

Clark also went on to make the cut and finish T-33 at The Open in 2023.

Wyndham Clark and Rickie Fowler make up the final pair for Sunday's fourth round at the US Open.

Clark made his Ryder Cup debut at Marco Simone in 2023, playing three matches and recording one win, one defeat, and one half.

Clark’s latest victory came at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He was six shots behind the leaders going into the weekend but carded a 12-under par 60 on the Saturday to take a one-shot lead going into the final round. That final round was postponed and then canceled due to storms affecting the area, leaving the PGA Tour to end the tournament after 54 holes and declare Clark the winner.

Wyndham Clark is a former PXG player but signed with Titleist in 2022 and, given his upturn in form since, is probably pretty chuffed with the switch. He plays 12 Titleist clubs and a Titleist Pro V1x golf ball but has a TaylorMade fairway wood and an Odyssey putter in the bag. Let’s take a closer look at the golf clubs and equipment Wyndham Clark uses…

WITB Wyndham Clark

What driver does Wyndham Clark use?

Wyndham Clark uses a Titleist TSi3 driver (9º) with a Project X HZRDUS Smoke Green 60 6.5 TX shaft.

Best for shape control

Rrp: $549.99

Price: $399.99
Alternative Retailers
DICK'S Sporting Goods
$399.99
Wyndham Clark clearly isn't one for immediately switching to the latest golf clubs. He's still using a Titleist TSi3 driver, thus far opting not to switch to the more recent Titleist TSR series.

The compact, traditional pear shaping of TSi3 is aimed at more consistent ball-strikers seeking ultimate control over their flight.

A five-setting SureFit CG track offers precise adjustments, from ‘most heel biased’ through to ‘most toe biased’, allowing players to fine-tune their shot shape and launch. Unlike TS3, the weight is now easily visible, allowing you to see its position without removing any parts. Its location at the very rear of the club also increases stability on off-center hits.

Clark's average clubhead speed of 121.86mph and ball speed of 184.02mph rank 10th and 7th on the PGA Tour respectively. He's 17th on the PGA Tour for driving distance with an average of 306.2 yards.

Pros

  • A more compact and rounded head than the TS3
  • Sole weight adjustability for ball flight control
  • Produces exceptionally fast swing speeds

Cons

  • Lack of visual alignment cues
Lofts 8º, 9º, 10º
Stock shafts Mitsubishi KURO KAGE Black Dual-Core 5G (High launch and spin), Mitsubishi TENSEI AV RAW Blue (Mid launch and spin), HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX (Low-mid launch and spin), Mitsubishi TENSEI AV RAW White (Low launch and spin)
Adjustable hosel Yes (SureFit allows for 16 independent loft and lie settings)

What fairway wood does Wyndham Clark use?

Wyndham Clark uses a TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway wood (16.5°) with a Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 80 TX shaft.

As with his driver, Clark opts to stick with a club he knows and trusts instead of switching to a more recent model, opting to keep the TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway wood in the bag rather than a TaylorMade Qi10.

To be fair, the Stealth 2 fairway woods are hard to beat. TaylorMade refer to them as a "cheat code" and we found them to be among the very best fairway woods available.

Thanks to lowering the center of gravity, it is more aligned with where golfers impact shots when hitting fairway woods from the turf. This makes it easier to launch shots with a high flight and good ball speed.

Pros

  • Low center of gravity enabling a high launch
  • Easy to align with target
  • Will appeal to all players with reasonable swing speeds

Cons

  • No adjustable hosel but multiple loft options
Lofts 3W - 15° / 3W HL - 16.5° / 5W - 18° / 7W - 21° / 9W - 24°
Stock shafts Fujikura Ventus Red TR
Adjustable hosel No

What driving iron does Wyndham Clark use?

Wyndham Clark uses a Titleist T200 3-iron with a Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw White 100HY X shaft.

Best for distance with stopping power
Price: £229.00 / $249.00 RRP
Titleist's T200 irons are designed for the player who wants distance help, without sacrificing looks, forged feel, trajectory, or stopping power.

The multi-material hollow body features an enhanced polymer core that improves speed on off-center hits and efficiency at impact, while an engineered muscle plate helps bring down the weight and improve the feel and sound at impact.

It has a shorter blade length than its predecessor with less offset, a narrower topline, and a thinner sole for more of a tour feel. The forged L-Face helps create a fast but solid feel.

Like the 620 MB, the Titleist 620 CB are often overlooked in favor of the more forgiving Titleist T100, even by some of the best players in the world, so don’t assume that a cavity back makes this model easy to play.

The Titleist 620 CB's weak lofts (the 7-iron is 35°) match the 620 MB, meaning the two are well-suited for a combo set, but most golfers would be better off with the more forgiving T100 and its traditional lofts.

Pros

  • Highly workable for high-level players
  • Superb feel
  • Traditionalists will love the weak lofts

Cons

  • Minimal forgiveness

What wedges does Wyndham Clark use?

Best for versatility
Price: £159.00 / $179.00 RRP
It's no secret that Titleist and Bob Vokey make some of the best golf wedges available, with the Titleist Vokey Design SM10 being the latest iteration.

The SM10 profiles are a fraction larger than their predecessor, the SM9, which will help generate additional confidence for many players. The center of gravity and groove shape have also been tweaked to generate a more penetrating flight with more spin.

Clark fell in love with fellow Oklahoma State University alumni Rickie Fowler's Odyssey Versa Jailbird putter and asked Odyssey to build him a replica.

Since the Odyssey Ai-One Jailbird Cruiser launched Clark wasted no time in adding one to his bag. On his first start with his new putter, he won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and had just 23 putts in his final round course-record 60.

This proven, major-winning Versa technology features a navy blue and white high-contrast alignment system that helps golfers with their alignment at address and through their stroke. It highlights the proper face angle and improves concentration, so you make more putts.

Titleist has been manufacturing iterations of the Pro V1x since the early 2000s and over time they have continuously increased in popularity - both on Tour and in the amateur game. Having amassed over 3000 Tour victories the Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x are the most successful golf balls in the professional game. From these golf balls, you get a reliable flight and a ball you can trust to perform well.

The Pro V1x is extremely long off the tee and performs incredibly well-approaching greens and in the short game. The Pro V1x is a firmer ball compared to the Pro V1 but still provides a lovely feel off every club in the bag. The Pro V1x is much loved by many of the world's greatest golfers for its overall high-quality performance and feel, which warrants a premium price. To some, this is understandable because they are arguably the best golf balls money can buy.
